Today we are going into our second term with Obama as president and my facebook feed is full of bitter people complaining about how Obama is going to run this country into the ground or what he is going to do that is wrong.
My question is though, what are you doing to make this country a better place?
We can complain about how we are going to have to pay more taxes to support getting health insurance to every person but have you considered some of the things these people are going through? Why do they not deserve to have health insurance?
We complain about all those people who are just living off of the government while we are going and working hard to support them. What about the child or children they have that has a Mom at home because they use those benefits? Don't our children deserve to come home to a mother or father at home? We complain that our children don't get to do that because we are supporting these people but is that the real reason why our children are in daycare or is it because we like our toys and we like to provide our children with lots of extras? Do we need a new ipad or will our old ipad work just fine? When did we get that new phone? We work to support our own habits, not the habits of others, taxes are part of working and we are going to have to pay them no matter what the money goes towards.
For the next 4 years I would like to suggest we are thankful for what we already have, not what we want. Lets make our country really great. Why don't we volunteer at a soup kitchen to see how the homeless live and what happens to people that don't have a job or insurance.
Go and volunteer at the hospital and look at the children that have already maxed out their insurance and still need treatment for cancer or another illness. With the Obamacare that you are so against this child might have a fighting chance to beat his or her illness.
For every action that we think is bad there is another person out in our blessed country that thinks it is good. This doesn't mean that other person is stupid, it just means we are all blessed with the ability to reason and that we all have different priorities.
We are all blessed to live in a nation where we can all have different opinions and Obama winning isn't the end of the world. We live in the greatest nation in the world and we need to begin act like it.
I have to say- I love the idea of everyone doing their part to make our country the best it can be. It is a win-win situation. :) Each positive action is important!
